Webaspx today announced that it has won a DTI Smart Award to develop their RoundBuilder waste management tool for local authorities and waste management companies.
RoundBuilder allows local authorities and waste management companies to design optimised and balanced waste collection rounds for domestic or commercial waste. The tool uses simple geographical information about the position of depots, collection points, the volume of waste to be collected and the number of vehicles. The tool then provides:
The tool enables local authorities and waste management contractors to design rounds which are more efficient, avoiding problems of light running and unbalanced rounds. It can reduce mileage costs and potential overtime costs.
The tool is designed to be used by local authorities and waste contractors when they are considering new recycling or collection schemes or when a waste collection contract is due for re-tendering. The tool improves efficiency and reduces round collection costs. Moreover, the improved clarity resulting from a RoundBuilder analysis reduces the risk of contract failure for both local authorities and waste contractors alike.
Roundbuilder is the third application in a suite of Waste Management tools produced by Webaspx. The existing applications are:
LogisticsOptimiser for use by local authorities and waste management contractors to carry out detailed analysis, resource planning and policy review of day to day waste logistics
FacilityLocator for strategic planning of waste facilities by local authorities and planning departments
The complete range of Waste Management products and services is marketed exclusively through Entec, leaders in waste management consultancy in the UK.
