Allerdale Waste Services Limited (AWSL), the waste collection service provider for Allerdale Borough Council, has chosen Webaspx EasyRoute as their new route optimisation solution.
Using the new software, and with support from Webaspx, AWSL will redesign their waste collection and recycling services to increase the efficiency of their routes and make better use of their available resources.
Based in Workington in Cumbria, AWSL currently service around 48,000 households every week, with a further 3,000 collections a week from local businesses.
After bringing the service back in-house earlier in the year, and then coping with the operational pressure of the Covid-19 pandemic, the council-owned company is now aiming to improve the efficiency of delivering both household and business waste collections by redesigning their service operations using robust and accurate performance data.
Designed specifically for waste collection and street cleansing, EasyRoute is the most widely used municipal route optimisation software in the UK. It lets service managers and planners design more efficient rounds that reduce the number of vehicles they need and the miles they travel.
