Supporting Buckinghamshire Council
with Recycling Communications

ReCollect Digital Recycling Communication Tools are helping Buckinghamshire Council to increase recycling rates and reduce contaminated waste through resident engagement and education.

Buckinghamshire Waste Partnership introduced the ReCollect Digital Recycling Education Tool called Waste Wizard in 2017 to support their group of five local authorities in taking a fundamental first step towards building consistent recycling communications across all geographic areas they serviced. This enabled the councils to combine the different waste recycling information behind the scenes, and then presenting a consistent public facing message to their residents.

Key points:

    • Buckinghamshire Council found that they only needed between 7-10% of unique visits to the Waste Wizard on their website to have replaced a phone call to the Council to save more than the annual cost of the Waste Wizard.
  • Since going live they have had searches from 90% of their postcodes which shows how well used the Waste Wizard app is and the coverage across Buckinghamshire.
  • They have had 112,000 unique visitors, which is equivalent to more than a quarter of all adults in Buckinghamshire.
    • In the last two years they have seen 6,000 monthly user sessions on average.
